Domain Hosting

Wizards can host your internet domain in various ways. If you don't see what you want on the list, ask, we're flexible!

Parked

This means what it suggests, no activity will happen on your domain, it can't take email, has no website, etc., BUT it remains your domain, for you to do with whatever you want now or in the future. It can be un-parked at short notice when you need it.

Basic Hosting

We hold your domain on our main domain servers. We maintain the "zone file" - which is a small database describing to the entire world how your domain works, where to send emails, where to find the web server, etc. We don't have a webby control panel like some hosting companies, we do it for you, just phone or email and tell us what changes you need to make. Our basic hosting package includes mail hosting for up to five users and basic web hosting. (q.v.)

Hidden Primary

If you want to host your own zone file, and retain 100% instant control over the domain, yet you don't want your server to be swamped with queries, this is for you. You run your zone file on any suitable DNS server (Windows 2003, Linux, etc., or you can even load BIND-for-Windows onto a Windows XP machine!) and we run both our DNS servers as "secondary" servers, that is, they pick up the zone information from your server. But the Whois data publishes OUR servers exclusivly, so we handle all the public query load. Moreover, our servers remain active and visible in the event that your connection to the internet is lost.

Bulk

We look after batches of domains for some larger users, in either "basic" or "Hidden primary" mode. Price depends on what you need, so tot up what domains you have, and give us a call to chat about the options and narrow down the best way to sort them out.

What is domain hosting? What is it not?

Hosting the DOMAIN itself is separate from hosting websites, hosting email, or other "services". It's the underlying service that lets all the others work. In essense, for any domain we host, this service is a "receptionist" who can answer general queries such as "who owns this domain?" and more detailed queries like "to which server should I send mail for a user in this domain?" and "Where will I find this domain's website?"
